Duramax service we handle

Everything a Duramax needs to keep working, from routine maintenance to tracking down a warning light.

  • Oil and filter changes

The diesel oil GM specifies for your engine and a genuine filter, changed when your Oil Life Monitor calls for it.

  • Fuel filter and water separator

Fresh filters protect the high-pressure fuel system. Replace them on the schedule GM lists for your engine, and have the separator drained when the Water in Fuel light comes on.

  • DEF system

Diesel exhaust fluid top-offs, plus diagnosis of DEF heaters, pumps, sensors and fluid quality warnings before the truck limits its speed.

  • Exhaust filter

Diagnosis for Exhaust Filter Full and Cleaning messages that keep coming back.

  • Turbo, injectors and fuel system

Testing for low power, smoke, rough running and hard starts, with repairs using GM parts.

  • Cooling and air intake

Coolant service, hoses and engine air filters. Trucks on dusty roads need the air filter checked more often.

  • Allison transmission

Fluid service and diagnosis for the Allison automatic behind the 6.6L Duramax. More on our transmission service page.

  • Tires and alignment

Heavy trucks wear tires hard. See our wheel alignment service and the Buy 3, Get the 4th Free tire offer.

  • Warranty and recall work

Covered warranty repairs and open recalls on your Chevrolet.

Dustin's Take

Dustin Schuler, Marketing Director, Bud Clary Auto Group

Why GM recommends it: A Duramax is built to work for a long time, and GM's maintenance schedule is how it gets there. Clean oil, clean fuel and clean air keep a diesel healthy, and the emissions side, DEF and the exhaust filter, has to be working right for the truck to run the way it should.

Why we recommend it: I like the longevity of a maintained diesel, and "maintained" is the part that matters. If your truck tows or works for a living, it's doing exactly the kind of work that makes staying on top of filters and fluids worth it. A diesel repair costs a lot more than diesel maintenance ever will.

What happens if you skip it: Skip fuel filters and you're gambling with the injectors and the high-pressure fuel pump, some of the most expensive parts on the truck. Ignore an exhaust filter message and a simple regeneration can turn into a much bigger repair. And a DEF problem left alone ends with the truck limiting its own speed, usually at the worst possible time.

Frequently asked questions

How often does a Duramax need an oil change?

Follow your truck's Oil Life Monitor, which adjusts to how you drive and tow, and change the oil at least once a year even if the monitor hasn't reached 0%. Your owner's manual has the details for your engine.

What does the Exhaust Filter Full message mean?

The diesel particulate filter has collected soot and needs to clean itself through a process called regeneration. Your owner's manual explains how to let the truck finish it while you drive. If the message stays on or keeps coming back, call (509) 765-4517 so we can find out why.

Do you service Duramax trucks that weren't bought here?

Yes. We service Chevrolet Duramax trucks no matter where you bought them.

What does ClaryCare Diesel cost?

$369 for three diesel oil changes, three tire rotations and three multi-point inspections. Taxes and fees are not included. See a service advisor for full details.

Can I pay for a diesel repair over time?

Yes. We offer service and parts financing so you can pay over time, and qualifying repairs carry Clary Repair Protection, a 2-year / unlimited-mile warranty. Regular maintenance and warranty work are excluded.

How do I book Duramax service?
